"You say Goodbye, I say Hello"

The time has come to say goodbye
...to sleeping in and staying up late
...to reading until noon
...to lounging around the house in pjs
...to wet hair thrown back with a headband
...to afternoons lounging by the pool with a book and a friend
...to whimsical errands and coffee meetings
...to jetsetting off on a trip with friends

The time has come to say hello
...to 25 new sets of eyes and ears
...to hair and makeup at 6am
...to wearing a real bra
...to having a plan and sticking to it
...to going to bed early and not sleeping in
...to new learning, laughing, and love
...to being stretched and stretching others
...to working together and seeing growth
...to being surprised and amazed by the minds of the young
...to a new start.

  1. What a great way to sum up the transition of a teacher. I giggled at some...knowing that it is so true. I hope that you have a wonderful new year and that those early mornings go smoothly.

  2. The "real bra" line cracked me up! I really feel the same way. I hate to let go of summer but I'm also looking forward to a new start. :)

  3. This is awesome Lauren--I feel like I've hardly had the chance for the hello/goodbye conversation in my head this week. It sort of started as a world-class sprint and it caught me without my track spikes....besides, I was a distance person, not a sprinter! :)
At any rate, this morning I'm saying hello to school-year weekends. The quiet start in pjs after a week of grown-up clothes, blow-dried hair, and makeup.
